About:
This webpage is developed in the EU/EDF-funded project "Upgrading capacity to control air quality in the Turkish Cypriot community" (REFORM/2022/EA-RP/0002). The overall objective of the project is to maximise the degree of convergence and compatibility of the air quality sector in the Turkish Cypriot community with EU legislation, as well strengthening fuel quality controls. The specific objectives include:
- To strengthen the technical capabilities of the responsible bodies in the Turkish Cypriot community, so that monitoring of air pollution is performed at the maximum possible level of convergence with EU legislation.
- To develop and strengthen the technical capabilities and tools of the same responsible bodies, in order to facilitate the correct assessment of air pollution in the northern part of Cyprus, and at the maximum possible level of convergence with EU legislation.
- To develop the technical capacities and tools of the responsible bodies to take adequate action for the management of air pollution in the northern part of Cyprus, at the maximum possible level of convergence with EU legislation.
- To facilitate the implementation of procedures aimed at controlling the quality of fuels sold to the public in the Turkish Cypriot community, in line with relevant EU provisions.
The aim of this webpage is to present information of air quality already available in a format that is accessible and intuitive to the public and thus increase transparency and public access to environmental information and promote public engagement in environmental management.
